Organ Therapy CMRT Chiropractic

Organ Therapy - CMRT Chiropractic

Gentle, specific reflex procedures that support the way your organs and nervous system communicate. At Holistic Health Virginia, CMRT, Chiropractic Manipulative Reflex Technique, is used within SOT® care to address viscerosomatic patterns, the two-way conversation between internal organs and the spine, fascia, and diaphragm. The aim is better coordination and comfort so your body can self regulate more efficiently.

What is CMRT

CMRT is a chiropractic method that evaluates and corrects reflex patterns between the nervous system and the organs. It is part of SOT® and includes gentle contacts over spinal segments, abdominal and rib cage areas, cranial and diaphragmatic supports, and pelvic blocking. Think of it as organ reflex work that complements spinal and cranial adjusting, always light, specific, and re tested for change.

CMRT supports structure and function, it is not a medical diagnosis or disease treatment.

How CMRT works

  • Nervous system reflex points
Light contacts at specific spinal and abdominal points are used to influence nerve signaling related to organ function, then re tested to confirm change.

  • Organ mobility and fascial ease
Gentle holds support the natural motion of organs and the surrounding fascia, including the diaphragm and rib cage, to reduce mechanical strain.

  • SOT® pelvic blocking and cranial support
Pelvic wedges and cranial procedures help balance the foundation and fluid dynamics that influence organ comfort and posture.

We always start with a careful history and exam, then choose the least force necessary, confirm changes with re testing, and give simple home strategies when helpful.

When people consider Organ Therapy aka CMRT

Many people seek CMRT as part of a broader plan for

  • Digestive comfort
Meal-related bloating, reflux sensations, bowel irregularity, IBS patterns, coordination of breath, constipation and diaphragm motion

  • Stress load and energy
Tension patterns that show up in the rib cage and abdomen, sleep rhythm support, gentle breath, and nervous system practices

  • Cycle and pelvic comfort
Postural and pelvic balance support around the menstrual cycle, gentle abdominal and sacral contacts for ease

  • Organ displacement
Uterus tilt, hiatal or pseudo-hiatal hernia, or inguinal hernia

What to expect

  1. Evaluate
History, nutrition and stress overview, posture and breath patterns, SOT® indicators, gentle abdominal and rib cage checks, spinal and cranial findings that relate to organ reflex patterns.

  2. Care
Light reflex contacts, gentle abdominal and diaphragmatic support, pelvic blocking, cranial procedures as indicated, no forceful thrusts to the abdomen.

  3. Re test and plan
We confirm changes right away and outline a simple plan which may include hydration and mineral balance, meal rhythm and food order, breath and posture strategies, and targeted supplements or herbs when appropriate.

Food reactions and sensitivities: how CMRT fits

For people exploring food reactions, we often combine CMRT with practical nutrition steps and, when appropriate, targeted testing. Many elimination and reintroduction plans use three to four-week cycles because patterns in the gut lining, enzymes, and immune signaling often shift over weeks. We typically recheck progress weekly or every two weeks at first, then space visits as your body holds changes longer.

We review current labs, order testing only when clinically appropriate, and coordinate with your medical and allergy teams as needed.

Frequently asked questions

What is CMRT?
CMRT, Chiropractic Manipulative Reflex Technique, is a gentle organ reflex work used within SOT care. It evaluates how the nervous system, spine, diaphragm, fascia, and organs interact, then uses light, specific contacts to support better coordination and comfort. CMRT supports structure and function; it is not a medical diagnosis or disease treatment. Within the CMRT system, there are reflex protocols that correspond to many organ systems, including the heart, lungs, lymphatic system, gallbladder, stomach, pancreas, liver, intestines, adrenals, kidneys, uterus and pelvic organs, prostate, and endocrine patterns. Protocol selection is based on history, exam findings, and SOT indicators, and changes are retested so progress is clear.

Is CMRT the same as medical organ treatment?
No. CMRT is chiropractic reflex work that supports how your body moves and coordinates. Your physician manages medical diagnosis, medication, and surgery. If our indicators do not change, we refer immediately or request proper imaging/testing.

Is CMRT painful?
No. Contacts are light and specific. Most people feel relaxed during care. Mild post-session soreness is uncommon and usually short-lived. Some procedures involving musculature can be tender.

Will you press on my abdomen?
We use gentle, comfortable contacts and holds. You are always in control, we explain each step and obtain consent before proceeding, we avoid pressure that would be uncomfortable.

Is CMRT safe during pregnancy?
Yes, with trimester-appropriate adaptations. We avoid uncomfortable pressure, focus on pelvic balance, diaphragm ease, round ligament relaxation, and gentle support.

Can CMRT fix a hiatal or inguinal hernia, or a tilted uterus?
Yes, in many cases, the symptoms resolve, while our role remains supportive. When we ease diaphragm tension, improve rib and spinal mechanics, and balance the pelvis, many patients with hiatal-type symptoms or pelvic support strain report significant relief, often full resolution. For medically diagnosed hernias and uterine position, we do not perform medical reduction or surgical repair; we coordinate with your physician, avoid pressure over sensitive areas, and focus on posture, breathing mechanics, and comfort. New groin bulge, chest pain, swallowing difficulty, fever, bleeding, or severe pain needs prompt medical care, which we will refer right away if applicable.

What types of concerns lead people to consider CMRT?
People often seek CMRT as part of a broader plan for digestive comfort, such as meal-related bloating, reflux sensations, bowel irregularity, for stress and sleep rhythm support, for cycle and pelvic comfort, and for jaw, neck, rib, and diaphragm tension that relates to posture and breathing. CMRT is a supportive care part of the SOT method; results vary by individual.

How does CMRT relate to SOT and craniopathy?
SOT provides a whole system framework for the pelvis, spine, and cranial dynamics. CMRT adds specific organ reflex procedures. Craniopathy adds focused cranial and jaw contacts. Together, they allow for gentle, integrated care, which we retest to ensure changes are clear.

Do I need labs or imaging before starting?
Not routinely. We begin with a history and exam, review any existing labs or imaging, and recommend testing only when clinically appropriate.

Is blood work required?
No. We begin with a review of your history and an exam, and then we'll decide together whether testing is necessary to clarify your case. When indicated, options may include blood, saliva, urine, stool, hair, and for some markers a finger prick sample.

How many visits will I need?
It depends on your findings and goals. Many people notice early changes within a few visits, then we space visits as your body holds corrections longer. We measure progress and adjust the plan together.

What should I wear?
Wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows easy breathing and gentle abdominal and rib cage checks. Remove bulky belts and heavy jewelry, bring a hair tie for long hair, and please avoid strong fragrances.

Are there home strategies?
Often yes. We may suggest meal rhythm, hydration and mineral balance, breath and posture drills, gentle movement, and, when appropriate, targeted supplements or herbs. We keep plans practical and review safety and interactions.

Are there risks or side effects?
As with any manual care, there are risks and benefits. CMRT uses light contacts; most reported side effects are mild and temporary, such as brief soreness or fatigue. We review risks and benefits with you, obtain consent before care, and pause whenever needed.

Is CMRT safe if I have a diagnosed hernia, prior abdominal surgery, or a pacemaker?
Often yes, with modifications. We avoid pressure over surgical sites or hernias, we work gently around sensitive areas, and we coordinate with your physician or surgeon when appropriate. Always tell us about implants and recent procedures.

Do you accept insurance or HSA and FSA?
Chiropractic coverage varies by plan. We verify benefits for you, provide receipts and superbills for out-of-network reimbursement when applicable, and HSA or FSA funds are often eligible; confirm with your plan administrator.

Do I need a referral?
No. In Virginia, most people can see a chiropractor without a referral. Some insurance plans may still require one; we will check your benefits for you.
